Rune Rebne is a Norwegian composer, associate professor in composition and Ph.D. Research Fellow at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. He began his studies as a trombone player in 1985, and finished his diploma in composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in 1997. 


Rebne composes instrumental- and electroacoustic music, and music for modern dance and theatre. His music has been performed at festivals in Norway and abroad. Rebne received the award Work of the Year for his piece «Ooid» in 1995, and was nominated for the same award in 2023 for  «Solosooadee». Rune Rebne worked as a director for the theatre plays «Blod, Jern og Olje I and II». 


In recent years Rebne has had several world premieres and releases of his music, including a series of concerts in Paris, France with Ensemble LINKS and Le Bestiaire, and recently in Berlin, Germany. The last two years, Rebne had premieres of nine new works for Orkester Innlandet, including with Guro Kleven Hagen and Sivert Holmen as soloists. Among his latest works is a one-hour concert of orchestral versions of Jon Balke’s project “Siwan” with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK), performed in the autumn of 2025 and to be broadcast as a TV production during 2026. His new string quartet for Opus 13 which will be premiered in March 2026. Rebne is currently working on a 45-minute trombone concerto for Ensemble Ernst and Karoline Trondsen, which will receive its world premiere in May 2026.


In 2025 Rebne releases two new albums with his own music called «Systkin» and «Vegom», with among others «Aate I-IV» for solo piano. A third recording «Laje», will be released on Aurora Records in may 2026.
