Rune Rebne is a Norwegian composer, associate professor in composition and Ph.D. Research Fellow at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. He began his studies in music as a trombone player in 1985 and finished his diploma in composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in 1997. 


Rebne composes instrumental- and electroacoustic music, and also music for modern dance and theatre. His music has been performed at festivals in Norway and abroad. He received the award Work of the Year for his piece «Ooid» in 1995. Rune Rebne worked as a director for the theatre plays «Blod, Jern og Olje I and II». His work «Solosooadee» for solo violin is nominated for Work of The Year 2023 by the Norwegian Composers Union.


In 2021-2024 Rebne has had several world premieres and new releases of his music. Newer works include his 25-minute work «Eveeu 1-4» (2022) for baroque violin and electronics, premiered by Victoria Johnson, a series of solo and chamber works for trombone soloist Karoline Trondsen (2023), and the premiere of his 20-minute piano piece «Aate» by Julie Yuqing Ye, among other works. Three new works for orchestra and singer with text by Norwegian poet Hans Børli were premiered by Orkester Innlandet in January 2024.
